The Orion Driver works great and tracks the cable really well with an ROV & USBL through Hypack. This is fantastic as our guys are very comfortable operating in a Hypack software environment.
Unfortunately the driver is very limited to what can be extracted to post process.
We are looking to do more work with this system and need to be able to extract the +/- cable offset, as well as the Depth (Z) value.
We have also been acquiring Altimeter data from the ROV, hoping that this can be applied to the “Z” from the Orion.
This data set will be used with the MBES model to produce a composite DoB cable survey.
I submitted a Data file to yourselves a day or so ago which shows the Orion’s data format.
We really need to find a post-processing solution somewhere for this as the Excel/R workaround is very clunky and laborious.
It would be greatly appreciated if the Driver could be updated to accommodate the above.
We have the system for a few weeks yet if you need anything else from us.
Going forward, we are looking good for more Cable-tracking work and therefore a good acquisition/processing solution would hold us in good stead.
